Guatemala Finca El Orégano: Washed coffee gem

Get ready to fall in love with our newest coffee, straight from a pretty wild spot in Guatemala: Finca El Orégano. This washed coffee is a real gem from Diana and Hector Ovalle's farm, and honestly, it defies what you'd expect from such a tough region. We're super excited about it, especially since this is our second amazing coffee from El Orégano – talk about consistent quality!

Taste it yourself: Think of a comfy cup with subtle notes of black tea, a bright zing of sweet lemon, and the warm, comforting taste of dried fruits.

The Unlikely Oasis of Huehuetenango

Everyone knows Huehuetenango as Guatemala's famous coffee hub, right? But what about the really dry, harsh parts where no one in their right mind would grow coffee? Well, meet Diana and Hector Ovalle. They're the cool folks who turned the impossible into something truly great. Coffee has been in their family since the late 1800s – a passion that started when their ancestors tried (and failed) with sugar cane. They switched to coffee, and that love has stuck with the family ever since.

More Than Just Coffee: Good Vibes & Green Thumbs

Diana and Hector are changing the game with how they grow coffee. They're all about making their farm super efficient and sustainable, which in turn does a ton of good for their community. They're not just coffee growers; they're creating opportunities. Think sheep that keep weeds away and provide meat for workers, plus trees planted for protein-rich seeds and vitamin-packed fruits for everyone nearby.

Diana, who's also a mum of two, is key to keeping everything running smoothly. She's hands-on with quality control, tracking each batch, and making sure every coffee variety gets the perfect treatment. She even works with 88 Graines on the "Co-Changer project," helping kids in local Huehuetenango schools get better education. Diana and Hector are setting a brilliant example for making top-notch coffee while looking after people and the planet. They are also super clever at making things work in their challenging environment. They built an awesome irrigation system that pulls water from the river, sending life-giving water directly to each coffee tree through special tubes. It's their smart way of making sure their crops thrive and we get to enjoy this amazing coffee.

Drink Coffee, Plant Trees: Our Part

This coffee isn't just delicious; it helps out too. For every kilogram of Finca El Orégano coffee we bought, 88 Graines donated 30 cents to help replant the forest that was sadly lost to a wildfire in the region this year. Additionally, by enjoying our Guatemalan coffee, you're not just getting a delicious drink, you're also supporting a better future for coffee farmers in Guatemala. When you purchase any of our Guatemalan coffees, you're directly contributing to the Replanting Farms project. For every bag sold, funds are used to purchase two new coffee plants for Guatemalan farms.
